Spinners' Unsold Yarn/Fabric Inventories Decline

For several months, Chinese spinners have been complaining about the volume of unsold yarn stocks. Yarn inventories began to build in March and April and increased in May --according to the NCMMS survey, unsold yarn stocks averaged 30 days at the end of May. However, these inventories have been steadily declining; and at the end of July, stocks fell to 28.7, which represented a .55-day decline from June. Mills generally view unsold yarn stocks above 24 days as burdensome. Downstream, weavers are reporting a small improvement in conditions as well. In the Shijiazhuang market, increased sales of cotton grey fabric have been noted over the past ten days.
