May Cotton Yarn Trade Remains Brisk in Taiwan

Taiwan's cotton yarn trade was quite brisk in May. Imports expanded 19.8 percent, reaching 3,087 tons, while January through May cotton yarn imports rebounded to 15,697 tons, an increase of 20.3 percent. Exports in June grew 9 percent to 5,859 tons, while January through May exports increased 19.2 percent to 31,571 tons. The cotton yarn import growth has been tied to a surge in yarn imports from India, Vietnam and Indonesia. Imports from India increased 52.8 percent to 7,255 tons year-to-date. Pakistan is the second largest supplier, with imports of 5,477.4 tons, and imports from Vietnam were up 67.69 percent at 1,410.4 tons.
